Abstract

In the first quarter of 2010, due to the recovery of the global economy, part of the consumer demand for netbook PCs shifted to the mainstream notebook models instead. Moreover, as the first quarter has traditionally been an off-season for netbook PC sales, promotions in the sales channels were not as frequent as in the other quarters. Consequently, the first-quarter greater Chinese netbook PC shipment volume dropped about 16.7% sequentially to approximately 6.63 million units. Nevertheless, compared with the same quarter last year, which recorded an even lower shipment volume, said shipment figure represents a year-on-year growth rate of 43.6%.
